    Your Mom and Dad

From the moment Karen was born, there
    was something simply wonderful about
her. She was the second twin, born one
minute after her twin sister, Sharon.

As a baby, she was very loving, quiet and
    introspective. Her sister moved fast,
walked, and talked by the time she was
nine months old. Karen was slow to walk
and talk. Her pediatrician said that all
these activities would occur when she was
ready. Of course, he stated she was
comfortable and secure just watching the
    things around her.

Karen attended church with us and sat
quietly listening to the services. She would
shake her leg or tap her feet when she
heard a song that she liked.

The first time Karen sat at a piano, her
grandfather, Thomas, sat her there. She sat
perfectly on the bench and placed her
finger naturally on the keys. For
Christmas, we bought a piano for the
twins. Karen would play it often. When
she was three years old, her uncle married
and she heard the wedding march. When
she got home, she played "Here Comes the
Bride". Then we knew that she had a
    musical gift from God.

Karen began taking music lessons at the
age of five and continued throughout her
senior year in high school. Also, during
middle school and high school, she played
in the school band as well as participating
in athletics (basketball and track). Karen
was committed to all her goals. She
persevered and stayed dedicated to all
tasks that she took on. She loved what she
was doing. She loved being involved with
others and working together as a team. She
    is truly a people person.

Karen also had another opportunity to
serve. She played the piano for various
choirs in the community beginning at age
twelve. She refused to sing, just played. I
encouraged her to sing and she said, "Let
    them sing".

Karen is a graduate of Peace College with
an Associate Degree (BA). There she was
trained on the organ. She is also a graduate
of East Carolina University in Theater Arts
    with a B.S. degree.

Karen loves comedy, church, singing, and
basketball. Some say she is a true
    comedienne and an anointed Gospel
singer. Imagine those two together – Karen
    is truly dynamic.

Her CD release will be coming soon. Be
    there! You will enjoy it.

Reverend Michael Smith assisted her with
this project; playing, singing, writing, and
arranging music. He is an ordained
minister and musician that helped her on
her journey. The journey continues as she
reaches out to inspire and be inspired by
others. Her Father and I are so very proud
of her and we know that God gave us this
special gift of which we are truly grateful.
We thank him for all the times that we
have spent singing and listening to her
play. Sing and play Karen and give God
    the Glory.
